Frolic was founded by Carol Wood in 2008, after spending years as a dog behaviorist specializing in training humans to help their pets past major behavioral issues like destructive separation anxiety and reactivity. Carol crafted Frolic to ensure that all the staff she hired were appropriately trained to the highest standards in safety, quality of care, and dedication. She deeply believed in caring for every single one of our clients’ pets as her own. Carol was also well known for providing private doggy daycare and boarding out of her home for over 20 years where she adored having extra bellies to rub and being a part of the extended family. She dedicated time outside of the company offering training to Veterinarians and their staff on behavior modification and safe handling techniques. Since she was born & raised in the PNW, Carol was an avid hiker, taking her dogs on every outdoor adventure, especially trips to Yellowstone and Mexico. When we unexpectedly lost Carol to cancer in 2024, Frolic’s wonderful team assisted the family with the transition and we couldn’t have been more grateful. One of the daughter’s, Meg, who had assisted in the start of the company and now works as a financial planner, has stepped in to continue Frolic’s mission of care, commitment, and trust.

We are a local family-owned company that deeply values the unique team based approach to caring for pets. Most of our staff are long-term employees from animal-centered backgrounds and it shows We fully vet, hire, and trainevery employee – we do not use independent contractors. Our wonderful management team ensures we are fully equipped with the knowledge and tools to provide your family with highly experienced pet care at every single visit.

Our small office management team is vital to our success and oversees every step of the way – we anticipate your pets needs, ask the right questions so we come prepared, coordinate and schedule the appropriate sitter for your appointments, as well as ensuring our team is fully equipped and supported from start to finish, 24/7. Having all communication and coordination centralized through our small team ensures even the smallest details are accounted for!
All team members are Frolic employees – that means you get an awesome trained team of highly trustworthy, fully vetted, and dedicated pet caretakers. Since we do not believe in using independent contractors for a variety of reasons, it allows us to have oversight in our staff, provide thorough training, and 24/7 assistance and backup, among other benefits.
Having this employee-based approach not only offers the team stable schedules, benefits, and guaranteed coverage when they have personal emergencies or sickness – it allows clients to not have to worry about things like scrambling to finding qualified backup care when relying on one person, make last minute arrangements, or take on more risk than they’re comfortable with when using app based independent contractors who aren’t always licensed, bonded, insured.
Our entire team is highly capable and have gone through ample training with our dog training manager and medication specialist – every pet sitter is also a dog walker and is equipped to handle whatever comes up! We extensively cover pet first aid and ensure we’re always implementing consideration for safety at every turn.
How does scheduling work and how do I communicate my needs with the sitter?
Our office team is available just like our staff: 365 days a year. You can call us directly or message us through your online profile.
We use the best software in the industry that’s adorably named, Time To Pet. This software is a one-stop ‘portal’ to communicate and coordinate with our office and pet sitter team. It’s a place to host your home and pet detailed instructions, plus has an integrated scheduling and invoicing system!
It also supports many additional features you’ll enjoy, but most importantly the after-visit digital pet reports – sent via portal, app, text, and/or email. You’ll receive adorable photos, videos, and written recap of the sitters visit, all time-stamped and GPS tracked so you can always be in-the-know!

You’re able to update all the details of your home and pet profile to ensure your sitters knows what your expectations and needs are for the visit. We can also add in specific-to-that-appointment notes to really customize instructions and make the most of our time. Through your portal message center all sitters can post updates and questions where everyone can see, the sitters will also see your real time messages and updates so everyone stays in the loop!
Our office and management team coordinates all of your scheduling requests with the pet sitting team. Once a schedule request has been approved – it’s on the schedule and means we have reviewed everything and assigned your team of sitters so you can feel confident everything is good to go. We have a fast turn around and are highly communicative regarding ensuring having everything we need prior to the start of services.
